Malaysia Championship Series 2024

Image
The  Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) is a national racing series promoted and organised by PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (PETRONAS SIC) as an initiative to promote and develop 4-wheel racing sports in Malaysia.   The series originated from the old Malaysian Super Series (MSS) championship, which was introduced in 2002 – three years after Formula 1 first came into the Malaysian shores as PETRONAS SIC took advantage of the renewed interest in motorsports amongst Malaysians. The series was rebranded as the MCS in 2015 to inject further interest and excitement into the series.   Drawing Malaysia’s top drivers and racing teams, the MCS runs the Touring Production (TP) for modified production and turbo cars up to 2000cc, Malaysia Touring Car (MTC) for the modified class of 1600cc and below, Stock Production 1 (SP1) for cars up to 2000cc, and Stock Production 2 (SP2) for cars below 1600cc. MCS is open to competitors outside Malaysia making both MCS and MSBK key motors...

Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing

Image
Well, maybe not  this  model per se – the Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing was a special collaboration that resulted in only 25 models ever being built – but Proton is without a shadow of a doubt the name behind the people’s car of Malaysia. Founded in 1983, the stylized tiger head or crescent moon underlining the 14-point star that makes up Proton’s branding can be seen  everywhere  in this Southeast Asian country. Proton may have started off rebadging Mitsubishi products in the 1980s and ’90s, but around the turn of the millennium they began to invest more in their own products. You can’t drive more than a few blocks in LA without spotting a Prius or a Tesla; and likewise, Protons are  everywhere  in Malaysia. The Proton Satria Neo was always targeted towards young buyers looking for something a little sportier than your average hatchback. Around the time of its release, Proton was sti...

History of the Nürburgring How the ring came to be The Nürburgring Nordschleife, in Germany, stands tall with a rich history that makes it arguably one of the most formidable circuits in the world. A RACE TRACK IS BORN In the early 1920s, the German government aimed to create a national circuit to propel the country's auto industry and motorsport scene. A plan was drafted to build a track around the village of Nürburg, in the Eifel region. On the drawing board, the design was ambitious: a 'mountain, racing and test track'. The construction began in 1925, employing some 3000 workers. Two years later, the result was 22.8 kilometers of challenging tarmac known as the Nordschleife ("North Loop") and a separate 7.7 kilometer Südschleife ("South Loop"). The first race took place on June 18, 1927. THE GOLDEN ERA The Nordschleife quickly gained a reputation as a challenging and dangerous circuit.
